Mom and Dad thought that the other nights in the past were rough.... I showed them! Daddy thought he would be nice and let Mommy sleep since I was already snoozing after my midnight feed. What he didn't know was that I was going to wake up in about an hour and be really upset about my tube. So much so that I got both my little hooks on it and pulled it not only out of my mouth but completely off of my face! Aw yeah... you know I'm tough! I've been working on these muscles! Needless to say... Daddy called in the expert (Mommy) around 2:45am so she could retube me in time for my next meal. I calmed down and slept for a little while since Mommy was there with me.... but I was up early pooping all over the place to start my day! I get creative with my stunts... I only have so much to work with... but I keep them on their toes!
So we went to see the cardiologist today. They're great there! Peggy came up and gave me a little outfit with a cool new hat from her and her daughter! How nice is that? She knew that I was coming in today and brought me a gift! Then there was this nurse who I had never met before who came in and checked on me and told us that she's been following my blog. I'm stinking famous! I should be signing autographs or something! My doctor came in and tried to listen to my heart... which was hard because of all my screaming... (Remember the fussy thing?) but eventually got a listen. He wants to see me in two weeks to get a picture of what's going on in my heart, but he gave Mommy and Daddy some news that they were happy to hear. He said that at this point he thinks that my heart has basically compensated itself to the point where it's used to working in the jacked up condition that it's in and that it's probably not an immediate threat to my livelihood. The heart I have now is probably better than what I would have if they tried to fix me. Plus the doctor says that I probably wouldn't make it through the surgery.... so I'm all for opting out of that choice! He says that I could potentially go months or years without any kind of serious heart problem... but that's just a guess... we all know about doctors right? He is a little concerned that my oxygen saturation is hovering around 60% - so he's going to look into a few other possibilities. We'll see what that means when we see him in a couple weeks.
I went and hung out with Gramma and Grampa and watched movies with my brothers while Mommy got some rest. I think she was actually plotting how she could get back at me for being so fussy later.... and she came up with a good one I didn't see coming. We were on our way into the van right after Mommy dropped my food into my tube and all of a sudden I was getting hit in the face by some warm fluid! Yes ladies and gentleman, Mommy disconnected my tube on purpose and had all my food drop right into my face! I felt like I was drowning! Ok... so maybe she didn't do it on purpose... and maybe I wasn't drowning.... but I was soaked! You'd be amazed at how far 1 ounce can go all over a 4.5 pound baby! But at least I got a little bath time out of it later!
Looking forward to many more months with you guys. Let's take it day by day still though, ok?

Hey Jacob - If you're so stinkin' famous (and you are!), you should be charging a fee for your autographs! My heart soars each time I read about how you're progressing. Stay tough, little man, but occasionally give your Mom and Dad a break - they need some sleep! I hope you and your brothers have lots of fun this weekend. Hugs - Lynne B.
It is so neat to see the little man defy the odds! I' m praying for your next appointment with the heart doctor.
One day at a time is a GOOD THING. I'm glad to hear that your heart is doing well. We'll keep praying about that and your oxygen saturation, o.k.?
Much love from Georgia...

Still praying and loving your updates!
